does the temp gauge read the coolant or oil level

The coolant temperature sensor is installed in the water jacket of the engine block or the coolant pipeline, and is in contact with the coolant to detect the coolant temperature of the engine. ECU corrects the fuel injection time and ignition time after receiving the temperature signal.

Principle: The slender head of the engine coolant temperature sensor is in contact with the coolant, and a thermistor with a negative temperature coefficient is installed inside it. When the temperature of the engine coolant increases gradually, the resistance value of the thermistor will gradually decrease, and on the contrary, it will increase. As a result, when the temperature of the engine coolant changes, the output voltage of the sensor will also change accordingly. After receiving the signal from the coolant temperature sensor, the ECU corrects the fuel injection timing and ignition timing of the engine. The water temperature gauge of course refers to the water temperature, indicating the temperature of the coolant. It also reminds you of the temperature of the engine. The coolant is used to cool the engine. Therefore, the engine cannot work normally if the water temperature is too high. An important factor is that the antifreeze is not only antifreeze and cooling, but also keeps your engine warm. Generally, the water temperature is about 80 degrees, which is considered normal, and it will be slightly lower in winter. If the water temperature exceeds 90 degrees without dropping , you must stop immediately, turn off the engine, and check.

1. The engine water temperature gauge is used to indicate the temperature of the engine coolant. The coolant temperature signal is provided by the engine coolant temperature sensor installed on the engine cylinder head. When the engine is working normally, its display value should be 80-100°C.

2. When the engine coolant temperature reaches 97°C, the cooling fan runs at low speed. When the engine coolant temperature is lower than 94°C, the cooling fan stops running. When the engine coolant temperature is higher than 105°C, the cooling fan runs at high speed, and the engine coolant When the temperature is lower than 101°C, the cooling fan stops running.

3. When the engine coolant temperature reaches 89°C, the thermostat is partially opened, and when the engine coolant temperature reaches 101°C, the thermostat is fully opened.

4. If the engine coolant temperature reaches or exceeds 112°C and the coolant temperature warning light is on, stop the engine immediately and fire the engine to check the coolant level and the cooling pipeline.
