e90 oil temp gauge

The low configuration model of BMW E90 has no oil temperature instrument and only one instantaneous fuel consumption instrument. The best working state can be achieved only when the engine reaches a certain temperature. The same is true of engine oil. Its fluidity and lubricity are the best at about 100 ℃.

Therefore, it should be avoided as much as possible in daily driving. Fierce driving should be carried out before the engine reaches the best working temperature.

Then the water temperature and oil temperature can directly reflect the working temperature of the engine. However, BMW has cancelled the water temperature gauge on the instrument since E90 (the third series of 2005-2012).

The penultimate coolant temp shows the water temperature.

The penultimate oil temp shows the oil temperature.

Turn the ignition off and back on. The instrument will return to the normal display page.

If not showing the oil temp:

The oil temperature of the oil temperature gauge on the instrument panel does not display (the minimum oil temperature is always displayed: 70 degrees).

Diagnostic process:

1. In the factory inspection, the vehicle oil temperature is not displayed on the instrument panel (the pointer of the oil temperature gauge is always at the lowest level: 70 ℃);

2. Check the vehicle fault code, there is no relevant fault code, conduct self inspection on the instrument, and no problem is found in the self inspection of the oil thermometer;

3. Use ISID to read the oil temperature of the vehicle, which is always displayed as - 51 degrees, whether it is cold or hot;

4. It is suspected that the vehicle transportation mode has not been completely deleted, and the same fault phenomenon still exists after deleting the transportation mode again;

5. When programming the vehicle, the vehicle still cannot display the oil temperature (the vehicle is upgraded to the program version: e89x-10-12-503);

6. Check the line. X6238 pin1-x6003 pin57 is conductive and the wire pin is free of corrosion. X6238 pin2-x6003 pin43 is conductive and the wire pin is free of corrosion. Check the wire plug and DME wire pin and find no water ingress. There is no mutual short circuit between the line and the first;

7. After studying the circuit diagram, it is found that the grounding of the sensor is the internal grounding of DME. Lead out the grounding wire of the sensor (x60574 Pin2) and ground it directly on the body. The oil temperature of the vehicle can be displayed normally.
