fox mustang fuel level gauge install

How to install fox mustang fuel level gauge:

The fuel level gauge consists of two parts: sensor system and fuel indicator. The sensor device usually operates on a float floating on the potentiometer. When the car's fuel tank dries up, the float drops and rotates the connection on the resistor to maximize its resistance. In addition, once the resistance reaches a specific level, it will also turn on a low gas lamp in some cars.At the same time, the fuel indicator system (usually installed on the instrument panel) calculates and displays the amount of current passing through the transmission system. Once the fuel volume increases, the optimal current passes through, and the meter reading (f) shows that the vehicle fuel tank is 100% full.If your tank is dry and the minimum current is moving, the meter reads (E) and shows a dry tank.

Step 1 – turn off the gas and power lines, Lift the rear compartment door or open the trunk. If there is a spare tire, take out the spare tire. Separate the gas and power cables to the tank.

Step 2 - detach the tank

Loosen the cable using a pair of small screwdrivers and remove the tank holder. Take out three bolts and support them under the vehicle. Then, gradually move the vehicle's fuel tank (a small amount of gasoline makes the fuel tank lighter). You can ask a friend to take it for you. Everyone is at both ends.

Step 3 – remove the transmitter

Remove the clip on the electrical accessory at the top of the launcher (the air pipe should not be removed at this time because the fuel will flow out of the tank). Next, using a screwdriver and hammer, rotate the launcher at the top of the locking device to lock the locking plate and channel.Spray the locking ring with lubricating oil and minimize friction during rotation. After the locking ring is closed, take the launcher out of the oil tank.

Step 4: remove the fuel level sensor

Position the fuel level sensor, which is usually located at the bottom of the launcher. Remove clip and slide sensor from wire harness.

Step 5 - install a new sensor

When you buy a new fuel level sensor, be sure to check the vehicle owner's manual to make sure you buy it correctly.Install a new gas level sensor and slide to the old position. Repeat these steps from the last to the first to replace the unit in the vehicle tank, and then complete.
