installing trim gauge mercury outboard

Mercury slip rings are also called rotary connectors, rotary joints, mercury contacts, conductive joints, conductive rings, collector rings, collector rings, etc. Different from the traditional carbon brush slip ring, liquid mercury is used as the conductive medium, the fixed end and the rotating end are integrated together, and carbon brushes are no longer required. The details that should be paid attention to in the installation of Mercury Slip Rings:

1. The temperature of the mercury slip ring should not exceed 60°C, the ambient temperature + self-heating (rotation + power-on).

2. When the mercury slip ring is installed vertically, keep the UP up, and keep it up when saving.

3. When installing the mercury slip ring rotary connector on the axis, it should not be eccentric. When installing the locking screw, it is best to use the 3-point locking method.

4. Do not weld and heat the mercury slip ring rotary connector itself or copper terminals.

5. The dedicated mercury slip ring connection terminal cannot be reused many times.

6. Rotating the mercury slip ring will reduce the service life if it vibrates.

7. This connector can be used to fix the shell or plastic part into the shaft center, and then pull the rotating part by inserting the terminal wire. Can not bear the weight.

8. If the above matters are not observed, the rotary connector will be damaged to varying degrees or the life of the mercury slip ring will be reduced.

For the mercury slip ring with small size and high precision, it is a very difficult problem to fix it by rotation. How to install it is more correct and reasonable. First, fix the mercury slip ring on one end of the rotating shaft.

Concentricity with the rotating shaft affects the service life of the slip ring. Secondly, both ends of the mercury slip ring can be rotated, and either end can be fixed. And be sure to use the terminal blocks provided with the conductive slip ring, which can ensure the service life, and must not directly solder the wire to the slip ring terminal.
