what happens when you add voltage to a manual temp gauge for a car

If the temperature sensor has voltage, PTC or NTC temperature variable resistance is generally used. The resistance value of the resistance is different at different temperatures, which is reflected in the different partial voltage voltage of the resistance in the circuit.

Under normal circumstances, the water temperature sensor is provided with a reference voltage of 5V by the engine control unit. It is made of negative thermal sensitive material and is applied with a voltage of 12V, which will not affect the water temperature sensor.

1.Oxygen sensor: when the oxygen sensor fails, the ECU cannot obtain this information, so it does not know whether the injected gasoline is correct, and the improper fuel gas air-fuel ratio will reduce the engine power and increase the emission pollution;

2.Wheel speed sensor: it mainly collects the speed of the car to judge whether the car has signs of slipping. Therefore, there is a special sensor to collect the wheel speed of the car to complete this work. It is generally installed on the hub of each wheel. Once the sensor is damaged, ABS will lose effect;

3.Water temperature sensor: when the water temperature sensor fails, the temperature signal displayed when the vehicle is cold is still hot. ECU can not get the correct signal and can only supply the thinner mixture of the engine. Therefore, it is difficult to start the engine when the engine is cold, and it will be accompanied by unstable idle operation and insufficient acceleration power;

4.When the accelerator pedal is weak, the ECU will not get the correct position of the accelerator pedal, so the electronic accelerator pedal sensor will not even get the correct position;

5.Intake pressure sensor: as its name implies, intake pressure sensor senses a series of resistance and pressure changes with different engine speed and load, and converts them into voltage signals for ECU to correct fuel injection quantity and ignition timing angle. It is generally installed next to the throttle. If it fails, it will cause problems such as difficult ignition, unstable idle speed, weak acceleration and so on.

The current automobile cooling system automatically turns on the electronic fan when the water temperature reaches about 97 degrees. If the voltage is too low, it will affect the normal operation of the electronic fan. However, some car generators and water pumps use a belt. If the belt is loose, the starting point must be small. At the same time, the speed of the water pump cooling fan can not be reached, and the water temperature may be really high.
