coolant temp gauge reads high but water pump warm

The temperature of the car's air conditioning water pump warm is high, and the coolant temp gauge reads high , but the actual temperature is not high. There are many reasons that cause the engine water temperature to be too high or even "boiling", such as the damage of the electronic components of the cooling system (thermostat, cooling fan), poor heat dissipation of the radiator, insufficient coolant, etc.

Pull over, but don't stop immediately! Because the temperature of the coolant is very high, and the cooling capacity has reached the limit, if the engine is stopped immediately, the boiling coolant will stop circulating (for most engines, the water pump is driven by the crankshaft. Of course, it will be better if the engine is an electronic water pump). The engine cannot bear the high temperature without cooling. If the engine is allowed to idle for a while, the continuous circulation of coolant can reduce the impact of high temperature on the engine.

Check whether the antifreeze is lacking, which causes high engine water temperature. Check whether the circulation of coolant is not smooth. Secondly, it can be checked that the water temperature sensor, water pump, thermostat, cooling fan, etc. may cause high water temperature. If you don't have strong hands-on skills, you'd better go to the maintenance shop for inspection.

What if the water temperature is high when I turn on the air conditioner? Since we haven't seen the existing car, we can't judge the specific cause of the fault. It is recommended that you start with the simplest query. It is recommended that you open the water tank cover on the water tank first, step down the accelerator when the water temperature is normal after startup, and check whether the antifreeze circulation in the water tank is normal. If not, check whether the water pump has problems first. Then check whether the water temperature in the water tank and condenser is high due to poor heat dissipation caused by dirt. When the water temperature gauge shows too high, first check whether the electronic fan of the water tank operates at high speed. If not, check whether the electronic fan, relay and temperature control switch have problems. If the water temperature is normal, then check whether the water temperature is really too high. This needs to be measured with a hand-held infrared thermometer. If the water temperature is normal, check and replace the water temperature sensor. If the water temperature is too high, check whether the thermostat can be opened normally. If the thermostat is not opened enough or the opening temperature is too high, the problem of high water temperature will be caused.
