reasons for my voltage gauge to read low

The charging voltage of the motorcycle is low. The possible reasons are that the rectifier is damaged or the rectifier model does not match the vehicle, and there are problems with the rectifier and relevant charging lines, such as wrong wiring or open circuit and short circuit fault of the charging line, poor lighting charging coil of the magneto stator or insufficient power generation caused by demagnetization of the rotor, etc.

In addition, when measuring the charging voltage, the battery in good condition should be installed on the vehicle. It is inaccurate to measure the charging voltage without the battery. There is a sampling voltage line on the rectifier of some vehicles. If this line is not connected or the battery is not installed, the rectifier will automatically reduce the output voltage, and the charging voltage of this pair will be reduced to about half of the normal value, and the voltage may continue to decrease when the accelerator is increased.

The battery will have self discharge during storage, resulting in voltage reduction. If the battery has reached the end of its service life, and the sulfation is serious, and the capacity cannot be recovered after charging, you can try to replenish distilled water. The battery will only lose water during use, and the sulfuric acid will not be lost. Therefore, it is not necessary to add dilute sulfuric acid, just add water.

The voltmeter of the motorcycle is usually marked up to 16V, but the battery on the car is 12V, so when you open the switch lock, it will point to 12. When you start the ignition, because the car generates electricity, it will exceed 12V, but the rectifier on the car will control the voltage so that it does not exceed 13.8V, so the pointer will not exceed 13.8V.

Turn the car on and turn on the headlights. The lights will turn on as the engine throttle increases. It means that your magneto is powered normally. The connection method of rectifier includes two-phase, three-phase and others. Only those who can be connected can be connected correctly. Please change a master, but don't disassemble it. Face the two pole voltage of battery, the size of throttle and the fluctuation of voltage should be dynamic.

The output terminal (positive and negative poles) from the rectifier to the battery can also be disassembled when the car is running. It can be learned by the method of fire touching that the larger the throttle is, the stronger the spark of instantaneous short circuit fire touching is.
