If the resistance value of the thermistor at room temperature is around 100 Ω, it indicates that the sensor is in good condition; Replace the sensor with a resistor with a resistance value of 80-100 Ω and ground it directly. When the power is turned on, if the needle of the water temperature indicator is between 60-70, it indicates that the water temperature indicator is in good condition. 

The working principle of the vdo water temp gauge sensor is that when using a container with a water temperature sensor, the water level sensor inside the container converts the cooling water temperature into an electrical signal and feeds it back to the car's trip computer. At this time, the ECU will adjust the control unit in a timely manner based on the stored data and feedback signals. The water temperature sensor contains an NTC thermistor, which changes with the temperature of the cooling water, allowing for more accurate measurement of the corresponding water level signal. Then, based on the deviation from the set signal, the ECU can make timely judgments on the engine's operating conditions, thereby correcting the car's fuel injection volume and ignition advance angle. 

The VDO water temp gauge represents the water temperature of the car's cooling water. The circulation route of car coolant is through a water pump in the middle of the engine, which is pumped into the radiator. After passing through the radiator, it flows back to the upper part of the engine, cools the engine block, flows to the lower part, and then circulates through the water pump. The car VDO water temp gauge detects the temperature during this process to understand the operating effect of the entire system. If the temperature is too high or the temperature rises too fast, attention should be paid and inspection should be carried out. Car engines all have cooling systems, and now most of the cars sold on the market use water-cooling technology (fan cooling). The engine is cooled by the cooling system water circulation around the entire cylinder block, and the water temperature gauge shows the water temperature of the cooling system! That is the internal water temperature of the engine!
