The steps to check the liquid level are as follows:

1. Check for oil leaks.
2. Drive the vehicle in the city with the engine warmed up. When the ambient temperature is 20°C (68°F), it will take about 10 minutes for the CVT fluid temperature to rise to 50 to 80°C (122 to 176°F).
3. Park the vehicle on level ground.
4. Apply the parking brake.
5. With the engine idling, simultaneously depress the brake pedal and move the selector lever through all gears.
6. After pressing the lug on the CVT level gauge to release the lock, pull the CVT level gauge out of the CVT fluid fill tube.
Check the engine oil for white turbidity or heavy contamination. If the oil appears cloudy and white, it is likely to be contaminated with engine coolant. Repair or replace damaged parts.

How:

1. Check that the selector lever is in "P" and fully engage the parking brake.
2. Start the engine.
3. Adjust the CVT tank to approximately 40°C (104°F). Note:
CVT fluid is greatly affected by temperature. Therefore, be sure to use CONSULT when adjusting, and check "Fluid temperature" under "Transmission" in "Data Monitor".
4. Shift the shift lever completely from "P" to "L" and back to "P" while depressing the brake pedal. Note:Hold the selector lever in each gear for 5 seconds.
5. Raise the vehicle.
6. Check for no CVT fluid leakage.
7. Remove the drain plug. See Removal and Installation.
8. Install the filler tube to the drain plug hole.
