fuel level gauge issues

Generally, the fault of fuel level gauge is caused by sensor problem,The power source of the automobile fuel tank is the gasoline pump, the control program is the gasoline pump control unit, and the measurement of the fuel oil quantity relies on the fuel level detection system composed of the fuel level sensor and the fuel gauge. The oil level sensor, usually called the oil float, is a sensing device for the fuel level. It uses the change of capacitance between the sensor housing and the sensing electrode after the oil enters the container, and converts this change into a current change to detect the position (height) of the oil in the container. There are generally three kinds of oil level sensors commonly used in automobiles, the traditional resistance oil level sensor, the upgraded magnetic levitation ball oil level sensor and the more common capacitive oil level sensor currently used. Higher precision and stronger stability.

The oil level sensor is connected to the gasoline pump, the gasoline pump control unit and the fuel gauge. If any fault occurs, it may be displayed on the instrument panel. Generally, the engine fault light is on and the fuel gauge is out of order. The specific manifestations are as follows:

1. The scale of the oil gauge suddenly drops and returns to zero, and the oil quantity is not displayed.

2. The oil gauge scale is unstable, fast and slow

3. The oil gauge scale has not changed

4. As the distance increases, the oil gauge scale does not decrease but increases

If it is checked, the following faults may be issued:

1. The sheet resistance of fuel level sensor 1 or 2 is too high
2. The sheet resistance of fuel level sensor 1 or 2 is too low
3. The fuel level sensor signal is too small and too large
4. The resistance of fuel level sensor 1 or 2 is too low
5. The resistance of fuel level sensor 1 or 2 is too large or too high
6. Fuel level sensor 1 or 2 is currently being tested
7. The fuel level sensor 2 is short-circuited to the positive electrode and short-circuited to the ground
8. The fuel level is too low

When the above faults are found, pay attention to check the oil level sensor, the gasoline pump and the gasoline pump control unit and the connection lines between them, check where the fault occurs, and replace it in time.

Summary: In fact, sometimes the oil gauge scale does not change, but also pay attention to whether the oil level sensor is stuck somewhere, and try to add better quality oil when refueling, because clean oil will make the magazines in the oil pump less, which greatly reduces the failure. probability of occurrence.
