oil temp gauge should go up to what temp

The normal oil temperature when the engine is running is 70-90 degrees. It will be higher locally, usually not exceeding the water temperature. Generally, medium and low-end vehicles do not have an oil temperature gauge, only high-end vehicles do. The oil temperature on the instrument panel shows 70°C, which is the lowest position of the instrument pointer. Generally, the temperature rises to 100 degrees Celsius after driving for more than 10 kilometers normally. If it is too low or exceeds 10%, it is abnormal.

Introduction 1: If the speed of the vehicle is relatively fast, the temperature of the engine oil may reach about 110°. But usually it will not exceed 120°. Introduction 2: The increase in engine oil temperature may be due to the scale or dirt in the water tank increasing the flow resistance of the coolant or the slackness of the water pump belt reducing the flow of coolant. Introduction 3: In addition, the concentration of the antifreeze coolant is too high, and the failure of the thermostat may cause the temperature of the engine oil to rise. However, under some severe conditions of use, such as high-speed driving, climbing, towing, off-road and other sports states, the oil temperature may rise above 150°C. If the oil temperature is too high, it will cause damage to the engine, because the high oil temperature will cause the lubricating oil to lose its lubricating performance, and it will also accelerate the deterioration of the lubricating oil, and even cause damage to the internal parts of the engine. Therefore, when the oil temperature is found to be too high, it should be stopped and checked immediately to avoid greater losses and potential safety hazards.

The reasons for the high oil temperature are as follows:

1. The engine oil is insufficient. If the engine oil is not added for a long time, the engine oil will be insufficient. At this time, the engine will not be able to achieve a better cooling effect, and eventually the temperature will be high.
 2. The viscosity of the engine oil is poor. If the owner buys the engine oil, the viscosity does not meet the standard of the original car, which will make the sealing effect worse and increase the oil intake in the combustion chamber, so the temperature of the engine oil will be high. And it can't achieve a better lubrication effect, and it will cause the engine to increase the wear rate if it goes on for a long time.
 3. The machine filter is clogged. When the machine filter is clogged, the impurities in the oil will flow directly from the side valve into the engine, causing the temperature of the engine oil to rise and causing serious internal wear of the engine.
