what causes speedometer and odometer to stop working

1. The speedometer does not work.

The reasons are: the flexible shaft is damaged, the driving pinion is damaged, the watch is damaged or the flexible shaft connecting nut is fastened every day. The flexible shaft, driving pinion, watch or fastening the flexible shaft connecting nut should be replaced.

2. The speedometer pointer is unstable.

The reasons are: the flexible shaft is poor, the meter is damaged or the locking nut of the flexible shaft is poorly installed. The flexible shaft, meter or the installation method of the flexible shaft nut should be changed.

Common faults of mechanical speedometer and odometer include noise, pointer jitter or inoperative.

1. Noise fault.

Generally, the flexible shaft (odometer line) is short of oil. The flexible shaft needs to be removed, cleaned and lubricated. But it's best to replace the soft wheel. In special cases, If the meter shaft in the meter head is worn, so that the aluminum cup collides with the magnet and makes noise, the meter head needs to be replaced.

2. The speedometer does not work, the reading is inaccurate or jitter fault.

First, check whether the flexible shaft and other wire harnesses are staggered and squeezed. If so, return the flexible shaft correctly; Check transmission transmission transmission
The wear of the drive pinion of the output shaft and the meshing clearance between the flexible shaft and the drive pinion shall be replaced if they are inconsistent; Check the clearance between the worm gear and the worm in the meter. If it is too large, it can be adjusted.
The common fault of the electronic speedometer is that it does not work. The reason is that the sensor is broken or the harness and instrument are faulty.

(1) whether it is a sensor or an instrument fault.

Open the transmitter connector and turn on the ignition switch. The No. 2 electrode connected with the red line on the brown background in the connector is extended with a self-made wire with plug to scratch the grounding part of the vehicle body and input pulse signal to the instrument

(2) Judge whether it is instrument or circuit fault.

Remove the instrument cluster, do not unplug the plug, and measure the three electrodes on the instrument with a multimeter. Turn on the ignition switch, the voltage of the live wire from No. 26 fuse to the power supply of the speedometer odometer to the ground shall be 12V, and the resistance of the pulse signal wire from the instrument to the sensor connector shall be zero, and the resistance of the grounding electrode to the ground shall be zero.
