2012 f150 oil pressure sensor problems

In order to prevent the problem of low oil, oil pressure sensors are installed on cars. How to solve the fault of oil pressure sensor? What will happen after damage?

1、Operating principle of oil pressure sensor .

The oil pressure sensor is installed on the main oil channel of the engine. When the engine is running, the pressure measuring device detects the pressure of the oil, converts the pressure signal into an electrical signal and sends it to the signal processing circuit. After voltage amplification and current amplification, the amplified pressure signal is connected to the oil pressure indicator through the signal wire, changing the ratio of the current passed by the two coils inside the oil pressure indicator, This indicates the engine oil pressure.

2、 What is the fault phenomenon of the damaged oil pressure sensor

The oil pressure signal display indicates that the engine oil pressure is lower than the specified value. The ECM considers it as a fault and stores the fault in the form of fault code 415. At this time, because the oil pressure is too low, the protection function of the engine plays a role, forcing the power and speed of the engine to decrease, and possibly stopping the engine for protection. The oil pressure sensor is installed on the cylinder block and the oil pressure sensor circuit. After starting, the engine oil pressure indicator is always on. The engine fault indicator is always on at idle speed. The oil pressure value is displayed as 0.99. Fault code: P01CA (the oil pressure sensor voltage is higher than the upper limit).

3、 How to solve the fault of oil pressure sensor?

1) The engine oil storage is too small, resulting in no oil or little oil in the lubrication system, resulting in low oil pressure. Solution: refuel.
2) Dirty or viscous oil causes that the oil pump cannot effectively suck in and pump out the oil, resulting in low or no oil pressure. Solution: change the oil.
3) If the engine oil is thin or becomes thin due to high engine temperature, it will leak from the clearance of each friction pair of the engine, resulting in low oil pressure. Solution: change the oil or overhaul the cooling system.
4) The oil pipe leaks oil, the oil pump is damaged or its parts are worn out beyond the standard, which will lead to the reduction of oil suction and pumping, or no oil at all, resulting in low or no oil pressure. Solution: maintenance.
5) The clearance between the crankshaft and the big and small pads exceeds the standard, resulting in oil leakage and low oil pressure. Solution: maintenance.
6) The pressure limiting valve or pressure relief valve spring is too soft or jammed or the steel ball is damaged, which causes the function of the valve to disappear or weaken, causing the oil pressure to decrease. Solution: replace and repair.
7) Low oil pressure due to oil sensing plug, pressure gauge or circuit fault. Solution: replace and check.
