what does it mean when the oil temp gauge is in the red

The red thermometer light on the automobile dashboard usually means that the engine cooling system has a problem or is short of water, which will lead to high engine temperature and cause the engine cylinder to burst. The reason for the high water temperature of the car: insufficient coolant: coolant leakage or insufficient coolant will cause the engine water temperature to rise. At this time, check the coolant condition. If the coolant is insufficient, fill it to a proper position first, and then check whether the liquid level drops seriously after a few days. If so, locate the leak. Cooling fan failure: cooling fan failure, when the vehicle is running at a high speed, the heat generated cannot be transferred to the antifreeze in time, affecting the cooling, thus causing the antifreeze temperature to rise, causing boiler boiling, etc. Circulating water pump failure: water pump failure includes bearing locking and impeller damage. Locked bearings are rare. Impeller damage is common, such as impeller cracking or impeller loosening from the pump shaft, which causes the coolant circulation speed to slow down and the engine temperature to be too high.

Common fault points when the oil pressure light is on are:

1. Insufficient oil volume leads to insufficient oil pressure. The amount of oil pumped by the oil pump decreases, so the oil pressure decreases and the oil pressure lamp lights up. It is necessary to check whether the lower engine has leakage points or oil burning fault.

2. The oil pressure sensor itself has a fault, which causes the on-board computer to receive incorrect oil pressure data, so the oil pressure light is on.

3. The harness of oil pressure sensor has faults, such as open circuit or short circuit, which causes the oil pressure lamp to light up.

4. The oil pressure lamp inside the instrument panel has a fault, which causes the oil pressure lamp to be common (generally, the possibility of this fault is very small).

5. The oil pump itself has failed. The oil pump is worn internally.

6. The oil pipeline inside the engine is blocked, causing the oil pressure lamp to light up. If the oil pressure light is on, it is not recommended to continue driving the vehicle, and it is not recommended to let the engine continue to work. Because the oil pressure is insufficient, the effect of lubricating the engine with oil will be lower and lower. If the engine is still working at this time, the engine will be damaged due to lack of lubrication. In serious cases, it is necessary to overhaul the engine. Therefore, if the engine oil pressure light is on when driving, the correct solution is to park the vehicle in a safe place immediately, stop the vehicle, call the rescue number, and wait for the rescue vehicle to tow the vehicle to the maintenance site for inspection.
