why does my boat fuel gauge show full
There are left and right coils in the electromagnetic fuel gauge, which are wound on the iron core. The degree of rotor deflection is determined by the combined magnetic field of the left and right coils, and the sensor is a variable resistance; The movement of the slide is controlled by the float. When the resistance value of the sensor changes, the current of the left and right coils in the fuel gauge also changes, so that the magnetic field changes accordingly. One end of the sensor contact piece on the wiring and the movable arm must be firmly connected to the ground, so that the fuel gauge can correctly display the fuel quantity.
At present, rubber is mostly used as the oil pipe of the steam tank in the micro ship. The sensor grounding is mainly realized through the contact between the oil tank and the oil tank frame and between the oil tank frame and the frame. After long-term use, such a design may cause poor contact due to corrosion, or a rubber pad is added between the oil tank and the bracket when the oil tank is installed, which will make the sensor and the frame in an insulated state. Therefore, when the ignition switch is turned on at this time, no matter what the oil state in the oil tank is, the pointer of the fuel gauge will show "full oil". To eliminate this kind of fault, the oil gauge can display normally as long as the oil tank and the frame are contacted together.
Whether the display of the oil gauge is accurate depends on whether the display is consistent with the remaining oil in the oil tank. After the key is turned off, the pointer of the oil gauge will not drop and will still stop at the original or higher position, as long as it can drop down when the oil is low. If the pointer of the oil gauge does not drop when the oil is low, you can first check whether the oil level sensor in the oil tank is damaged or stuck. The inaccurate oil gauge is mostly the problem. In addition, check whether the oil gauge itself is damaged, whether the wiring under the oil gauge is faulty, and whether the wiring between the oil gauge and the oil level sensor is poor. If the fuel tank of some cars is full, the pointer of the fuel gauge will indeed slightly exceed the maximum fuel volume of the fuel gauge. This is normal. If the oil gauge can move, but the display is not accurate, you can also remove the sensor, break the iron wire of the float, and adjust its height.
