how fuel tank level gauge work

There are two main principles of the liquid level sensor: one is to use the sliding potentiometer as the detection element. When the float moves, it will drive the potentiometer to act, and the resistance value will change. It can be detected with an ohmmeter, so that the oil level can be measured. It has a disadvantage that when oil dirt covers the potentiometer, its resistance value will also change, which will introduce errors and reduce the service life of the sensor. The other is to use the inductance coil as the detection element, which uses the float to drive the inductance coil, change the frequency of the oscillation circuit, and detect its frequency to know the value of the liquid level. Its disadvantages are complex structure, troublesome debugging, high cost and high price, which limit its application range.

At present, many liquid level sensors are made of reed tubes because of their long service life, safe and reliable operation and no spark. They are widely used in the liquid level detection of oil tanks and generator sets.

1. Tank level sensor

It is based on the principle that the magnetic field generated by the ferrite magnet is used to control the on-off of the reed. The change of the measured oil level is converted into a resistance voltage signal output, and then connected with the secondary instrument to achieve the purpose of detecting the liquid level of the oil tank. This liquid level sensor has high detection accuracy, good safety, long service life (5 * 1000000 times of continuous action), maintenance free, easy installation and other outstanding performance. It is the product equipped with the most oil level measurement tanks in various vehicles.

2. Generator set level sensor

It is a sensor that uses the principle of magnetic field to control the on-off of the contacts in the reed tube, converts the measured changes into output signals, and thus measures the liquid level height. It can customize various measurement accuracy (0.25% to 10%) according to needs, and match with the original pointer instrument panel or digital display instrument. The output may be a resistance signal or a voltage signal. It has the advantages of high corrosion resistance, high measurement accuracy, good safety, long service life (can withstand 5 million times of vibration), maintenance free, easy installation and so on. It is widely used in petroleum, chemical industry and automobile.
