oil pressure sensor bad

How to tell if the oil pressure sensor is bad?

If there is no pressure indication on the oil pressure gauge at all engine speeds, the oil pressure sensor is damaged or the engine lubrication system is faulty.

If the engine has not started after the ignition switch is turned on, the pointer of the oil pressure gauge has moved to the maximum pressure value, indicating that the oil pressure gauge is grounded to the sensor line, etc. Or the oil pressure sensor is internally grounded.

Oil pressure sensor function

Detect the oil pressure and send out an alarm signal in case of insufficient pressure When the oil pressure is insufficient, the oil lamp on the instrument panel will light up. The faults that give an alarm when the oil pressure is insufficient are generally the failure of the oil sensing plug, the insufficient oil, the blockage of the oil pump's secondary filter screen, and the damage of the oil pump If there is an oil alarm signal, repair it as soon as possible.

Damage of oil pressure sensor:

The oil pressure signal display indicates that the engine oil pressure is low to the specified value. The ECM considers it as a fault and stores the fault in the form of fault code 415. At this time, due to the low pressure of the dry oil, the engine protection function works, forcing the power and speed of the engine to drop, and may shut down the engine for protection. The oil pressure sensor is mounted on the cylinder block.

① After starting, the oil pressure indicator is always on
② the engine fault indicator is always on
③ idling, and the oil pressure value is displayed as 0.99
④ Fault code: p01ca (high dry upper limit of oil pressure sensor voltage)

Cause analysis:

The probe of the oil pressure sensor is seriously damaged, the ECU detects that the oil pressure sensor is not connected, and the instrument display value is the internal substitute value of the ECU.

Solution:

Check and replace the oil pressure sensor.
Judging method of oil pressure sensor
If the short circuit shows normal, it indicates that your sensor is normally open switch output.
The switching value has only two states: on and off. If there is oil in the chassis but the sensor still does not output, it means that the sensor is broken. Do you have a two-wire sensor? If it is a two-wire one with a small bulb (5-24v) connected in series, check whether the bulb is on. If it is not on, it must be broken (with oil)

Summary:

The oil sensor is broken. If there is a lack of oil and the oil pump is not working, the oil gauge will not respond and the oil pressure will not give an alarm, which will cause major mechanical accidents such as bush burning.
