bmw x5 oil pressure sensor location

Due to the front rear drive or front four-wheel drive layout, the fuel tank of the BMW 5 Series is quite different from that of ordinary models. Instead, it uses a saddle shaped fuel tank. The saddle shaped fuel tank is divided into left and right cavities. In order to transfer the fuel from the left half of the tank to the right half of the tank, a specific drainage pump device is required. The principle of this drainage pump is closely related to Bernoulli's law, Venturi effect and siphon phenomenon, which means that gasoline will flow from the side with high pressure to the side with low pressure. Although the atmospheric pressure on both sides of the gasoline is the same, due to the existence of liquid level difference, the high pressure side of the gasoline flows downward due to gravity, and the low pressure side flows upward due to atmospheric pressure, until the atmospheric pressure and hydraulic pressure on both sides are equal, and the liquid level in the fuel tank becomes the same height, the gasoline will stop flowing. It is precisely because the BMW 5-Series uses a saddle shaped fuel tank, so it has two oil level sensors, one on the left and the fuel tank are integrated, and the other on the right can be replaced separately. The oil level sensor is connected with a float, which is light and floats above the oil level, and is connected to the oil level sensor. With the float rising or falling, the resistance value of the oil level sensor will change. The signal of the oil level sensor will first be fed back to the JBE/REM/BDC computer module, and then the computer module will send the signal to the combination instrument, which will convert the digital signal into an image signal for display. This is the general logic process of the BMW 5-Series oil level display.

Inaccurate fault of BMW 5-series oil gauge: Break the train of thought:

Step 1: Confirm the fault of inaccurate oil gauge is true;
Step 2: Use special inspection to read the fault code and find that the right fuel level sensor is short circuited to the positive pole. It can be ruled out that the interlock fault is caused by other sensors;
Step 3: Check the power supply of the oil level sensor. It is found that everything is normal. It can be directly determined that the circuit from the combination instrument to the JBE/REM/BDC module and then to the connector of the oil level sensor is normal. Therefore, the fault is eliminated after the right oil level sensor is replaced directly.
Step 4: Test run, everything is normal, and the fault of inaccurate oil level disappears.
