fuel level gauge not working

As we all know, the power source of the automobile fuel tank is the gasoline pump, and the control program is the gasoline pump control unit, while the measurement of fuel quantity depends on the fuel level detection system composed of oil level sensor and fuel gauge. Oil level sensor, usually called oil float, is a sensor device for fuel level. It detects the position (height) of the oil in the container by changing the capacitance between the sensor shell and the sensing electrode after the oil enters the container, and transforming this change into a current change.

There are generally three types of oil level sensors commonly used in automobiles. The traditional resistance oil level sensor, the upgraded magnetic levitation ball oil level sensor and the widely used capacitive oil level sensor have the same function, but the capacitive oil level sensor has higher accuracy and stronger stability.

The oil level sensor is connected with the gasoline pump, the gasoline pump control unit and the fuel gauge by lines. If there is a fault anywhere, it may be displayed on the instrument panel. Generally, it shows that the engine fault light is on and the fuel gauge fails. The specific manifestations are as follows:

1. The scale of the oil gauge suddenly drops to zero and does not display the oil quantity
2. The scale of the oil gauge is unstable, fast and slow
3. The scale of the oil gauge has not changed
4. As the distance increases, the scale of the oil gauge increases instead of decreasing

If it is detected, the following faults may be sent:

1. High resistance of fuel stock sensor 1 or 2
2. Fuel inventory sensor 1 or 2 chip resistance too low
3. Fuel stock sensor signal too small or too large
4. Fuel inventory sensor 1 or 2 resistance too low
5. Fuel inventory sensor 1 or 2 resistance too high or too high
6. Fuel inventory sensor 1 or 2 is currently being tested
7. Fuel inventory sensor 2 short circuit to positive, short circuit to ground
8. Low fuel level

When finding the above faults, pay attention to check the oil level sensor, gasoline pump, gasoline pump control unit and the connecting lines between them, check the specific fault and replace it in time.

Conclusion: in fact, sometimes the scale of the oil gauge remains unchanged. Pay attention to whether the oil level sensor is stuck somewhere. Add oil with better quality as much as possible, because the clean oil quality will reduce the magazine in the oil pump and greatly reduce the probability of failure.
